Teaching Approach

Our teachers are exclusively mother tongue German speaking and well-trained in methodology in teaching German as a foreign language based on communicative teaching methods. These methods help you to learn quickly and to gain confidence in your communicative skills while having fun at the same time.

German will be the only language spoken in class. You will be actively involved all the time. Using new media, pair work and role play will simulate real life situations.

Learning does not end in the classroom. The tutorials offer intercultural training and the opportunity for conversation and discussion in German and are part of the German language courses.

Class Sizes: 15 students (max.)

Students‘ Placement:

A placement exam after arrival determines appropriate levels before the beginning of classes. The test will help to place students in the level that best suits their needs. Starting date of course is obligatory for ALL participants, since placement tests are conducted on Monday, 4th of July 2016, from 4.00 to 6.00 p.m.

Teaching time:

German language classes are taught for 56 units + 12 tutorial units. One unite consists of 50 minutes lecture time.

Courses meet the first week from Tuesday to Friday, the 2nd and the 3rd week from Monday to Friday from 9:00.a.m. to 13.00 p.m. The tutorials of 2 units each are held twice a week in the afternoon.

Each course is divided into grammar, vocabulary, reading & listening comprehension, writing, speaking and culture with an exam at the end of the course.

For classes with low numbers of students (less than 8) we do reserve the right to integrate the participants in another course in mutual agreement with the students.

Certificates – Attendance Certificates

Students who successfully attend one of our German Intensive Courses receive a certificate which contains the following information:

  • length of course (from – to)
  • total number of lessons attended
  • the language level at which the course was held
  • grading for each of the four language skills: speaking | writing | listening | reading*
  • an overall grade under the following assessment headings: 1 = very good | 2 = good | 3 = fair | 4 = satisfactory | 5 = non satisfactory

In case too many lessons have been missed (min. attendance of 80% is required) or any other reason, for which a course certificate can’t be issued, students receive an attendance certificate if requested. *Attendance Certificates will not show any grades.
